Description
The book was originally published in German under the title Das Alte Sudwestafrika and its subtitle stated that it was a history of South West Africa up to the date of Maharero’s death in 1890. The authors extensive knowledge of the ethnology of native tribes, their languages, and customs assists in quickening the dry bones of their historical achievements, while folk-lore and tribal tradition are frequently invoked to bridge the gaps between recent and more remote times. The original has been somewhat reduced in size for the purpose of the English Edition
